I was using opera to read an article on slashdot when I saw the words Fibonnaci Poetry. Without knowing anything about this, it immediately made sense to me. I have always been a fan of haiku, but why five, then seven, then five syllables? I mean there is probably some tradition behind it, but what say?
Fibonnaci Poetry has a mathematical presence in its beauty. First, understand Fibonacci number. With that, you then have the sequence for Fibonacci poetry!
Fibonnaci: 0, 1, 1, 2, 3, 5, 8, 13, 21...
Poetry: 1 syllable, 1 syllable, 2 syllables, 3 syllables, 5 syllables, 8 syllables, 13 syllables, 21 syllables...
With April being National Poetry Month, Gregory K. on April 1st, put out his first Fibonacci poem and labeled it The Fib.
Later, on April 3, he posted a little deeper on the goals of the poetry (getting people to write). Because of that I now present my first Fibonacci poem:
My
brain
can find
such solace
in this simple verse
made of certain syllable words.
Some of the funniest ones I read were in the slashdot posts about the article. You owe it to yourself to read them. Please let me know if you see Fibonacci poetry anywhere else!
