A Montpelier Moment
Residents of Montpelier, Vermont, were stunned by the news that their high school was not ranked number 5 in the country, as previously reported by US News & World Report.
That's right. The school flew high for about a week as it was listed as number 5 in "America's Best High Schools" after calculations done by Standard & Poor were shown to be incorrect.
A representative from S and P said it was embarrassing that they are in the business of judging people based on their math scores, and they got their math wrong.
The people in the town are doing the best they can with it, having taken down the banner in the front of the school that said "We're Number Five!" shortly after finding out they were in the top 500, but not the top 5.
The Associated Press reported a student from Montpelier stating "I don't really see us as one of the most amazing schools ever."
True.
